Many of us love Chinese food, whether that be a take-away, a restaurant or even if we cook it ourselves, but you can’t beat a night out with family or friends to you local Bromley Chinese restaurant. The following comes from Trip Advisor.
31 Widmore Road, Bromley BR1 1RW, Kent
The following review is written by Hannah from Wellington, “My new favourite Chinese! I was a little apprehensive before trying this restaurant as I had seen mixed reviews online. All I can say is WOW, excellent service, lovely atmosphere and amazing reasonably priced food. If you’re a fan of crispy chilli beef (which I am) I would definitely recommend trying it here, it’s some of the best I’ve ever had and believe me, I have tried a lot! We actually thought Mandarin Palace was slightly better than very expensive and well known Chinese restaurants in places like Knightsbridge, therefore we plan on returning to this little gem again and again!”

Khriss from London, gives their thoughts about their experience at the Peking Diner in Bromley, “Great Food!” They going on to say, “We wanted to eat out locally, checked out the reviews then booked a table. We wasn’t disappointed. We were greeted by an older waiter when we arrived. He was fantastic, spoke to us about the menu and how they served their food. This is an “eat as much as you like restaurant” and boy did we. The staff would always check up on our table to see if there was any thing else we needed. The food was fresh and tasty. We will definitely be going back. Also we were not rushed at all, we could take our time and chat. A hidden gem in Bromley.”

In this review, No_Nonsnse from Kent, gives her opinion following her night out at the Treasure of China. She starts of by saying, “Chinese Food – as it should be!” and the continues, “I absolutely love Chinese food but sometimes, Chinese restaurants over complicate things unnecessarily. Treasure of China doesn’t! The chicken with noodles tastes as it should (yummy!), as do the duck spring rolls and the chicken satay. The satay has nice big chunks of meat – it’s not dainty as per other Chinese restaurants.” No_Nonsense goes on to say, “Perfect food and as expected, I would recommend this restaurant. The only thing I would change about Treasure of China is the table flowers – they really are awful!”

Not exacting a Chinese restaurant, but it does do well according to Trip Advisor. The following review comes from Creativestartravel, from London, and they start by saying, “Will visit again!” Which is a good start! They continue, “Pleasantly surprised with this pub and the food. On first impressions it’s a pub! But as you walk through to the dining area you’ll soon find this is a popular place for local families to eat. The service was fantastic, the menu a mixture of Chinese, Indian and English Pub food. It definitely tries to cater for all and does a good job at doing so.” Creativestartravel goes on to say about their experience at the Crown & Pepper, “We ordered Chinese and Indian dishes, all of which tastes very good. Would recommend to others. The time we were there many Asian families came to eat and ordered extra for take out. British pub food lovers looked like they enjoyed their meals too. Only thing I would say because it’s a pub, the football was in so you will get the shouting and uproar of those football fans.”

Russ from Bromley, gives his view of the Oriental Garden, “Friday night..This is our local Chinese restaurant and we love it. The food is lovely. Home delivery can take a while but they’re obviously busy so good in a way?! I think there must be more than one chef? You can tell when the best one is doing the cooking.”

The following review is by Judgys from Northampton (best site), they start by saying “Mediocre for Michelin” and continue, “So we know it’s a busy time of year however Xian’s service ranged from abrupt to friendly dependent on which member of staff served you. Keep your wine with you as plenty went dry for some time as they kept the wine in the central area and due to being busy we could not get the staff’s attention so ended up pouring our own! Food is ok but it really is nothing special. We had a selection of sweet and sour dishes and beef, portion sizes are ok but forget any presentation here.” Judgys continues, “To be frank this could be any Chinese restaurant so do not go out of your way to book here. When we asked if we could get some sweet chilli sauce to accompany our prawn crackers we were looked at like we had two heads. The wine list is not bad but overall for Michelin this really is mediocre.”
To balance the reviews of people, I have added Sennockred from Sevenoaks, view of their experience at Xian, “Very good food. Excellent night out in Xian. The food was as good as always. Though the service was a little hit and miss this night – perhaps they were short staffed. I will certainly be back though because the food and the welcome are always first rate.”

Ho Lok is not a restaurant, it’s a Chinese Take-away, but according to the reviews, it seems to sell great food. So why shouldn’t it be included. Here is one of its customers experience, Sally from South London, “Super food, if a little pricey. Moving from Sydenham to Bromley and the first thing I notice is the hit my pocket took for our favourite takeaway food – Chinese. That said, the food does not disappoint and became our takeaway of choice in the area after working our way through quite a few.”

According to Trip Advisor, the Pecking Chef seems to get a mixed bag of reviews, so here are a couple.
539ipm gives their experience, “We’ve been getting take aways from this place for 4 years, the food has always arrived hot, correct and on point….until recently. Our last 3 orders have been woeful. Late, the wrong food and barely warm (we live less than 1 minute away by scooter). Won’t be going back. Used to love this place, the whole point of a take away is convenience, good food, at a decent price, correct to what you order, when you want it….” They go on to say, “Doesn’t seem to be happening these days. Genuinely gutted that we need to look for somewhere else now. They’re just getting everything wrong. Show less”
On the other of the coin, Mr B from Bromley gives this review, “Want an excellent Chinese Takeaway? Search no further
One of the best Chinese Takeaways you could possibly want. Food is prepared professionally and is very tasty. Meat is of high quality whether, Beef, Chicken, Pork or Lamb. I always have a chicken curry, along with the varied choices. Great Value and Great Quality.”

The following review comes from Lianyu, where they give their thoughts about the Parkside Restaurant, following a night out. Linayu start of by saying, “Very authentic Chinese restaurant & only Chinese restaurant we would go around Orpington!” They continue, “This restaurant is no doubt the top 3 Chinese restaurants in my list, very authentic food, traditional decoration and most importantly, the food is so so so delicious!!! As regular customers, we often had our dinners here and the food never disappoint us. It offers a good combination of Sichuan food, North-Eastern Chinese food, and Cantonese food.” Lianyu goes onto say, “The environment is very elegant, spacious and well facilitated. The staff is super super nice and helpful. They will recommend you the best dishes for you based on your taste, and not like other restaurant, they will advice you when you order too much. The price is very reasonable and the dishes are very generous. Overall, best Chinese restaurant around! Highly recommend!”

Dolcetto23 from London, provides their recent experience at Sanxia Renjia. They start by saying, “Really good Sichuan food – in Bromley!” Dolcetto23 continues to say, “We booked a table here after reading Jay Rayner’s rave review of the Deptford branch in The Guardian, and then having a superb dinner in the Goodge Street branch. After that we had to try out the third branch, on our doorstep! We are big fans of Sichuan food in particular, and have both been to China many times. We didn’t order a huge amount on this occasion (although portions were so big we still took our leftovers home), but the Boiled Beef in Chilli Oil Soup and Tasty Black Fungus Salad were especially good, and the manageress was charming and solicitous. We ate early as we were going to the cinema but I was still very surprised it wasn’t much busier.” Finally they conclude, “Very good food, and a welcoming atmosphere. We will be back.”
