Since I have noticed that many webmasters out there are struggling with search engine optimization, link building and converting their visitors into valuable customers, I have decided to write a series of articles covering some basic and some more advanced approaches to online marketing.

Today we will take a look at some of the more basic truths about doing online business. Here are your four guidelines:

1. Optimize One Keyword Phrase / One Page

It doesn’t make much sense to optimize one page on your website for numerous different keyword phrases – it will definitely make the optimization for each of those keyword phrases less effective AND it’s really easy to simply add another page to your website to cover another keyword phrase, so it’s a no brainer. So, instead of one page that will be displayed on 3rd page of search results for keyword phrases “used ford carburetors” and “used ford fuel injectors” you can simply create two optimized pages, one for each keyword phrase, that will be displayed on 1st page of search engine results.

2. Secret: Turn Off Google Personalized Search

It is very useful to be able to see how your website is ranking in Google Result Pages to some random potential visitor who is looking for something related to your niche. To disable Google’s personalized search that keeps on giving you results, tailored especially for you, append “&pws=0” at the end of the URL in the search bar.

3. Patience is a Virtue

Whatever you do, keep in mind that Search Engine Optimization is a long-term investment and you will almost never see any positive effects right away. But with the correct approach and a consistent action you should be able to see some great results in a month or so. For example, a majority of our users who distributed 2 articles every week, reported very satisfactory results in 1 to 2 months (first position in Google search results, 1500% traffic growth, 2500% income growth).

4. Turn Your Visitors Into Assets

This is maybe the most important part of making a living with a website and is not really a part of SEO, but we just can’t stress the importance of this part enough. Remember that website we had that went from 8’000 daily visitors to 2’800 in a single day because of our server issues? If we didn’t do our best to satisfy the needs of those visitors and make sure they trusted us enough to tell us their email addresses, we would lose 75% of this website’s revenue in one day. What if that happened to you and your family depended on it? So, always keep in mind that you need to make the most of every visitor that comes to your website, because you just might stop getting all those visitors one day and you need to be able to provide your products or services to your existing list of possible customers.
